Households in Flintshire will have received a form asking residents to check whether the information that appears on the electoral register for that address is correct as part of Flintshire’s Annual Canvass of households.

Anyone that wants to vote must be registered and to make sure you are able to have your say at elections simply check the form when it arrives. if your details haven’t changed you can reply by free phone, internet or by text. If your details have changed you can update this information by visiting www.registerbyinternet.com/flintshire  or alternatively you can post the form back to us.

If you’re not currently registered, we’ll send information explaining how to do this, or you can submit an application to register online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

Colin Everett, Electoral Registration Officer at Flintshire said:

“The aim of the Annual Canvass is to ensure that the electoral register is up to date and to identify any residents who are not registered so that they can be encouraged to do so.

“It is important that people are able to vote in local, regional and national elections and are not disenfranchised because they are not registered.  People should not assume that they are able to vote just because just because they are registered for other things such as Council Tax.”

Rhydian Thomas, Head of the Electoral Commission, Wales said:

“It’s really important that everyone who is entitled to vote is able to do so; checking the form that will arrive through the post is one of the easiest ways to find out if you are already registered. There’s lots of helpful information about registering to vote on our website www.yourvotematters.co.uk.”

Residents are asked to return their forms by 10 September an anyone who needs further advice and assistance can contact the Elections Team at 01352 702412 or by email register@flintshire.gov.uk
