Greenfield Valley Management Agreement

Published: 19/08/2019

The Greenfield Valley Heritage Trust and Flintshire County Council recently signed a Management Agreement that aims to ensure Greenfield Valley’s sustainability both as a local facility and a site of significant regional and national historical interest

Gwladys Harrison, Chair Greenfield Valley Trust said;

“This is a truly exciting time for us. Having recently secured nearly £1m of Heritage Lottery funding, there has never been a better time for us to build on and strengthen our governance arrangements. Challenges include increasing patronage and income streams in a competitive attractions market, and managing within our means during a period of public sector financial austerity.

“We are confident of Greenfield Valley’s immense potential and for it be recognised on a par with other sites such as Shropshire’s Ironbridge Gorge.”

Cllr. Carolyn Thomas, Cabinet Member for Streetscene and Countryside said;

“Flintshire is proud to have Greenfield Valley Heritage Park within its heritage, open space and tourism offer. The Greenfield and greater Holywell areas are steeped in history and the Park is the central attraction for family and outdoor activity.

“The profile of the Heritage Park is growing through the combination of a significant Heritage Lottery Fund investment, and the joint efforts of the Trustees and the Council to promote access for residents and tourists alike.”

“The Council looks forward to working with the Board in the next important stage of the proud history of the Park.”
