Children and Young People - School Modernisation

The CYPP Plan records what work needs to be done, and by whom, to achieve improved outcomes for children, young people and families in Flintshire.

The Flintshire Healthy Schools Scheme was launched in October 2000, and is a member of the Welsh Network of Healthy School Schemes.

The Inclusion Social Work Service exists to ensure that every child and young person within the County of Flintshire is adequately cared for and receives maximum benefits from the educational opportunities provided

Flintshire LEA provides a centralised service for instrumental/vocal tuition, in support of all its schools in the development of musical skills, outside the national curriculum.

PE and School Sport is a partnership between Welsh Government and the Sports Council for Wales, with the aim to develop the quality of PE and School Sport in Wales.

Flintshire County Council collects pupil statistics in January as part of the statutory national pupil level census. These figures are used by the Welsh Government and the Local Authority to inform funding calculations and for other statistical purposes.

Schools in Flintshire are proud of the relationship they have with parents of students, and with other members of the community. From time to time, however, disagreements can arise.

Please note that training days for teaching staff are held periodically. On training days, the school premises are open but pupils are not admitted.

The County Council, as a Local Education Authority (the LEA), is responsible for determining the arrangements for admissions to all Community Primary, Secondary and Special Schools and Voluntary Controlled Schools. The LEA will consult annually with school Governing Bodies in relation to admissions.
