Street Naming and Numbering

From 1st April 2017, it is the intention of Flintshire County Council to charge for their street naming and numbering service, in line with other councils in Wales. Details of the charging schedule are available from the downloads section.

Flintshire County Council is responsible for the naming and numbering of streets and buildings in Flintshire. We do this so that new street names and building names and numbers are allocated logically which, among other things ensures the effective delivery of mail and that emergency service vehicles are able to locate addresses easily.

For naming and numbering of new developments, the council carry out consultations with Local Members, Town/Community Councils, Address Management Service and the Council’s Welsh Translations Service to agree a suitable street name and the Street Naming and Numbering officer will then number the properties logically along that street.

If you need an address for a new property, you will need to apply in writing using the Registration of Official Postal Address form which is available from the downloads section.

If you want to change the name of your property or to add a house name you will need to apply in writing using the ‘Application to change property name or number’ form which is available from the downloads section.

Application forms can be sent by post or via e-mail to the addresses below;
