Flintshire Jamboree!

Published: 29/06/2023

Jamboree.jpgThe Flintshire Welsh Advisory Team held a three-day musical Jamboree for Year 2 children. This was an especially exciting event for schools this year, as it was the first collective Jamboree for 4 years. Approximately 1,450 Flintshire children attended over the three days of performances. The popular S4C presenter and entertainer Martyn Geraint was commissioned to stage six performances.

Martyn Geraint has built up a reputation as one of Wales’ foremost entertainers and will have seen first-hand his natural ability to inspire children.   As well as being a fun and social experience, the Jamboree was a means of enhancing pupils’ bilingual skills and provided additional dimension to Welsh language by offering a positive learning experience through music.

The Jamborees were held at Connah’s Quay Civic Hall, and the team wish to thank the Town Council for their continued support.

Year 2 children from 50 primary schools from across Flintshire have been busy learning songs to enable them to sing along in Welsh with Martyn Geraint.
