A happy and safe Christmas

Published: 10/12/2014

The Flintshire Community Safety Partnership wishes all residents and visitors of Flintshire a very happy, and safe, Christmas. As part of the teams activities leading up to Christmas, a number of events have been organised to encourage greater awareness about personal safety. Four events have been arranged in supermarkets across the county offering all types of crime prevention advice linked to Christmas: being safe, property marking, vehicles, leaving valuables on show and personal safety. Councillor Kevin Jones, Cabinet Member for Waste Strategy, Public Protection and Leisure said: During the weeks leading up to Christmas, people tend to carry more money, leave presents that they have bought on show in the home and in cars - and it can be easy pickings to an opportunist criminal. Purse and wallet theft is one of our main areas of concern. During the supermarket events, purse and wallet belts will be available for people, if required. Supt. Sacha Hatchett, from North Wales Police, said: North Wales Police, as part of the Flintshire Community Safety Partnership, wants the residents of and visitors to Flintshire to stay safe over the festive season. By raising awareness in this way we can help our communities to help themselves. This is also a great way for officers from the Council and Police to meet members of the public and address any questions they may have in order to make themselves and their property more secure. Two successful events have already been held in Broughton and Mold and I am confident that the events in Flint and Queensferry will equally be well received. The team will be at the following supermarkets: Sainsburys Flint - Friday 12 December Asda Queensferry - Monday 15 December Image Some of the Community Safety Partnership team pictured at Tesco in Broughton Park: Pictured left to right: Richard Owens - Neighbourhood Warden, PCSO Sue Holmes, Tom Williams - Neighbourhood Warden, Alex Lewis - Community Champion, Tesco Broughton Park
