Flintshire THRIVE: Town Heritage, Regeneration, Investment and Vibrant Enterprise

THRIVE is Flintshire County Council’s coordinated, place-based regeneration programme focused on property, businesses and town centres. It brings together investment in people, property and place to strengthen town-centre economies and support long-term, sustainable growth.

THRIVE is funded through the Local Growth Fund (LGF). LGF in Wales is managed by the Welsh Government and funded by the UK Government.

Three complementary grant schemes

Transforming Towns

Flintshire County Council is proud to be part of the Welsh Governments’ Transforming Towns initiative which is designed to support the regeneration of towns across Wales. The Transforming Towns initiative provides capital investment opportunities for schemes which support the programme’s aims and objectives.

In Flintshire, Transforming Towns ‘Place Making Grant’ funding and interest free loan investment opportunities are currently available, to support the delivery of a wide range of projects in our town centres.  Projects can range from green infrastructure developments to improve biodiversity and enhance public spaces; to internal and external commercial and residential improvements for business owners.

The funding aims to support the creation of vibrant town centres, which offer flexible work spaces and increased access to services for local residents and visitors to our primary town centres.  The project aims to make our towns greener and more attractive and vibrant places to visit – showing off their best features and making everyone who lives, visits or works in the town centre feel welcome.

The scheme is open to private businesses, including developers, third sector businesses and the public sector. It is not available to private individuals.

Potential applicants should review our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s) and contact Flintshire Council’s Regeneration Officers in the first instance in order to discuss any proposals and whether they are eligible for the grant funding. This service is free of charge.
