Annual Pennant Lecture

Holywell Library and Learners Centre will be hosting the 18th annual Pennant
Lecture on Thursday 16 October at 7.30pm.
Jim Perrin, a distinguished journalist, mountaineer and natural historian has
been invited by the society, Cymdeithas Thomas Pennant, to deliver this years
lecture entitled ‘Thomas Pennant: a remarkable life’.
Jim is a travel writer and has lived in Wales since 1964. He contributes to
major newspapers and magazines such as the Guardian, Daily Telegraph and TRO
and his book ‘Climbing Essays’ appeared on the shortlist for Wales Book of the
Year in 2007.
The Pennant society exists to celebrate the achievements and promote further
study of the life of Thomas Pennant, a prolific travel and nature writer born
in 1726 who lived in Whitford, Flintshire.
Tickets are available from Holywell library, priced at £3 each. Places are
strictly limited, so advance purchase is strongly recommended to avoid
disappointment on the night. The event is sponsored by Flintshire County
Council and Cymdeithas Thomas Pennant.
