More parking for local park

Published: 31/01/2020

The car parking facilities at Wepre Park are currently being extended as an urgent temporary solution to solve the car parking issue following the growth in the park’s popularity with locals and visitors from out of County.

It involves putting down a textile membrane and then compacted aggregate to form the temporary parking surface.

Flintshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Streetscene and Countryside, Councillor Carolyn Thomas, as well as local ward members welcome the extension and the speediness of officers working together with contractors to remedy the issue, using some community benefit funding.

Councillor Thomas said:

“As soon as we secure enough grant funding, the temporary extension will be used as a base and be made permanent. There may also be further works and parking spaces provided as grant funding allows, possibly removing the island in the car park and defining parking spaces to fully utilise the area available.”

Councillor Paul Shotton said:

"After speaking with visitors and residents, they are pleased and this is the best solution.”
