NEW Homes Board approve new housing scheme in Flint

Published: 12/10/2016

The NEW Homes Board has given the go-ahead to a new £7.77m housing scheme which will deliver 62 new affordable homes in Flint town centre. North East Wales (NEW) Homes and Flintshire County Council have developed an innovative approach to financing the scheme which will see the Council providing a capital finance loan to NEW Homes. Flintshire County Council Deputy Leader and Chairman of NEW Homes, Councillor Bernie Attridge, said: “I am delighted that NEW Homes will continue to work closely with the Council to deliver this flagship scheme. This will vastly improve the housing offer for people living in Flint.” Lee Sale, Business Director, Wates Residential, said: “The partnership between Wates Residential, Flintshire County Council and NEW Homes will not only provide high quality new housing to help meet current demand, but also provide a significant boost to the Flint economy through investment in local sub-contractors and suppliers, whilst also creating jobs and training opportunities for local people.” In addition to the 62 affordable homes, the scheme will also see the delivery of 30 new Council homes on the site. The new homes will be built by Wates Residential and will commence later this month, with a projected completion in April 2018.
